There is a long history of engineers and technicians engaged in geodesy. Zagreb is the city where the Association of Surveyors was founded on February 11, 1919. After World War II, in 1946, surveyors operated as a section of the Society of Engineers and Technicians Zagreb. The same sections were founded in Split, Rijeka and Osijek, which in 1953 outgrew these frameworks and participated in the founding of the Croatian Society of Surveyors. Although surveyors were members of the Croatian Engineering Association founded on March 2, 1878 as the Club of Engineers and Architects, 1953 is still considered the beginning of the independent work of surveyors in the Croatian Society of Surveyors (Paar, R. (2022): "70 years of the Croatian Geodetic Society"). The Croatian Geodetic Society is a voluntary, independent and non-profit association of graduated engineers, engineers and technicians of geodesy and geoinformatics and other professions related to the activities of geodesy and geoinformatics, or equivalent to them academic and professional titles and degrees of education in the geodetic profession, students of geodesy and geoinformatics in the first and higher years of graduate studies, or in the first and higher years of undergraduate studies, and legal entities engaged in geodesy and geoinformatics.
